In 1890, brothers Herbert and Frederick Kay purchased the Amery property, and 5 years later produced their first vintage. The brothers enjoyed a remarkably long partnership until Frederick’s death in 1947; and when Herbert died the following year, his son Cuthbert ‘Cud’ Kay took control.
Today the family continues the winemaking traditions in the heritage listed stone cellars. Kay Brothers Block 6 Shiraz is ranked ‘Outstanding’ in Langton’s Classification of Australia’s finest wines.
